About Our Staff
Christie has been the owner for over 25 years. She taught dance for 20 years and now oversees the business. She has over 35 years in dance, physical fitness and teaching experience. She has a BS degree in Dance, Physical Education and Recreational Therapy. She is also a certified teacher for public schools. She has taught Middle School Drill team, High School Dance classes, and Dance Therapy as a therapist. She enjoys the outdoors and has participated in many outdoor activities. She has traveled all over the US teaching in many states dance and Physical Education."My mission is to have every student feel the positive effects of dance and Physical Ed in their lives." She enjoys spending her spare time with her husband and children.
Jamie has been teaching with Jazzerettes and Gymtyme since 2013. After five years of teaching she transitioned into a new role as Assistant Director. She is excited to still be working with the company and to be able to continue seeing all your children excel at the showcases each year. Jamie has been performing all her life however she didn’t get serous about it until she graduated High School. Upon High School graduation, she started the dance program at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon. In 2003 she moved to Roseville, California where she began working with her sister's company and found her passion for Latin and Ballroom dancing. With her dance partner she began traveling the world competing and performing. She did her first international competition in 2004 in Berlin, Germany, and she has won numerous titles since. Some of her titles include 1st place in both International Latin and Latin American Showdance, and 2nd place in American Smooth and Classic American Showdance at the United States Championships. Currently she holds the title as Female World Champion in American Rhythm and 9-dance. Although she loves to compete and perform, her true love is teaching. She enjoys sharing her knowledge with others to help them succeed in their own personal goals. She continues to grow her knowledge in all dance styles and she is always excited when she can share it with others.
For more than 40 years, Lisa Gardner has learned the art of ballet and, for more than two decades, she has shared her passion by teaching others. Lisa, a native of Sacramento, especially enjoys seeing children grasp the fundamentals of dance and how they can grow to love it. She has taken classes at various local studios including Crockett Dance Studio, Capitol City Ballet and the Ballet Studio. After graduating high school, Lisa spent a summer at the Boston School of Ballet. She has performed in recitals and shows including the Nutcracker, Giselle, Firebird and The Best of Broadway. Lisa also has a fondness for theater and has danced at the Woodland Opera House in shows such as A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, My Fair Lady and Guys and Dolls. Away from the studio, Lisa looks forward to spending time with her husband and three son, two who are now in college.
Miss Janell is excited to join Jazzerettes and Gymtyme teaching hip hop at her old elementary school. Janell hails from Elk Grove and lives here now with her husband, Ben, and their new son, Noah. Janell has been dancing and performing for 30+ years and has always had a love for the arts. Her training in dance includes a wide range of genres such as ballet, jazz, tap, modern, clogging, Irish, and hip hop. Janell also has a love for musical theater and has performed professionally for 10+ years.
Suzie started dancing when she was three years old, starting with tap and ballet. In high school, she then moved on to lyrical and jazz. She continued to dance through college, then took a break to peruse her love of teaching children. She received her Associate’s degree Early Childhood Development and Bachelor’s degree in Human Development with an emphasis on Elementary Education. Suzie has worked as a lead preschool teacher and as a teaching assistant for special needs students. She currently works part time at Studio Physique teaching Hip Hop and Jazz based dance-fitness routines to adults. She also enjoys hosting children’s dance parties on weekends. She is thrilled to be able to combine her love for teaching with her passion for dance!
Kenya Hilliard is a recent MFA, Dance graduate from Mills College 2019. She also graduated from Sacramento State with her BA in Sociology and a minor in Dance in 2016. There, she pursued her passion for performance with the Sacramento State Marching Band and Color Guard where her love for dance was amplified.
Kenya has experience teaching Afro Caribbean dance forms, Jazz, and Contemporary at the collegiate level. She has also taught master classes developing her pedagogy in Dynamic Self/ Body Awareness, a concept of dance as it relates and interacts with mindfulness meditation practices. Kenya currently teaches preschool dance in the Sacramento area, high school color guard, and is the Artistic Director of Florin High School's Master"Peace" Dance Company. Kenya enjoys exploring the therapeutic element of dance with hopes of getting certified in dance/movement therapy in the future.
